Mental Health Support That Includes Your Companion

At Compass of Hope Counseling, we understand that when you need time off for mental health, waiting weeks for a primary care appointment isn’t always an option. That’s why we proudly offer timely support for FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) requests related to mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, burnout, and other psychiatric concerns.

Whether you're navigating workplace stress, a mental health diagnosis, or a sudden need for recovery time, we offer quick-turnaround appointments and professional documentation you can trust.

What Is an ESA Letter?

An Emotional Support Animal letter is a document provided by a licensed mental health professional that verifies your need for an ESA to help manage a diagnosed mental health condition. This letter may allow you to:

  • Live with your animal in housing that has a "no pets" policy
  • Request reasonable accommodation from landlords
  • Travel more freely with your ESA, depending on airline policy

We ensure your letter meets legal standards and reflects your unique needs.

Our ESA Evaluation Process

A woman wearing glasses is smiling in front of a city street.
  1. Initial Psychiatric or Therapy Intake (60 mins)
Meet with a licensed mental health provider via telehealth or at one of our NH offices (Hooksett, Concord, or Hampton).
  2. Assessment & Clinical Judgment We’ll assess your mental health history, current symptoms, and how your animal supports your well-being.
  3. Letter Issued (If Appropriate) If you meet the criteria, we will provide you with an ESA letter that meets federal legal requirements. Documentation can often be completed within 48–72 business hours.

Note: We only provide ESA letters following a full clinical evaluation. We do not issue letters based on online forms alone.

Who Might Qualify for an ESA Letter?

ESA letters may benefit individuals managing:

  • Depression
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Panic Disorder
  • PTSD
  • Chronic stress or emotional dysregulation
  • Adjustment disorders

If your pet significantly contributes to your emotional stability, we’re here to evaluate your needs respectfully and responsibly.
