Kathleen (Katey) Wichland
Katey Wichland is a Licensed Psychologist who has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, specializing in autism spectrum disorder, trauma, depression, and anxiety. She believes in the combination of traditional and creative counseling approaches, which includes the use of play therapy, mindful-meditation integrated with guided imagery, and internal-family systems. She is trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to better serve those with trauma-related disorders and has obtained certification to serve as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. Dr. Wichland enjoys working within a comprehensive care team. Clinically, she takes a humanistic-existential approach when treating patients, fostering healing relationships that encourage the development of resiliency, autonomy, and self-reflection—skills that she uses to reinforce the internal exploration of value and purpose in life. She also loves to use humor in her sessions and is keen on reframing difficult experiences so that her patients can find meaning in their struggles.
In the testing world, Dr. Wichland has experience administering a wide range of neuropsychological and psychological assessments. Over the past several years, she has specifically engaged in the testing of children, adolescents, and adults for the presence of autism in their diagnostic profiles. Dr. Wichland is an avid learner and is enthusiastic about enhancing and broadening her skill set so that she can best serve her patients, their families, and communities.
In her free time, Dr. Wichland enjoys being with her family and friends. She loves the outdoors, painting and repainting the walls in her house, cooking, and practicing yoga. Dr. Wichland has a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Rivier University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from Keene State College.
