Cait Kirby

Intern Therapist
She/her/hers
Treating Adults, Teens, Children
Cait is a graduate student intern pursuing her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Merrimack College. Cait earned her BA in biological sciences and anthropology and her MS in biological sciences from Smith College, as well as her PhD in biological sciences from Vanderbilt University. She appreciates the opportunity to support neurodivergent, chronically ill, and burnt out clients who are working through challenging situations, processing trauma, or just looking for someone to deeply listen.
Cait’s background in science carries through to her work with clients: she focuses on empowering clients to experiment with new perspectives, strategies, and ideas as they work toward better understanding themselves and interacting with the world around them. Cait’s background in education drives her interest in working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, and she especially enjoys working with clients who are exploring their identities, pursuing new careers, or entering a new stage of life.
Cait’s therapeutic approach incorporates a variety of modalities and techniques, emphasizing evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered, and solution-focused therapies. She aims to blend both cognitive and somatic techniques, and brings a trauma-informed approach to her work. In addition, Cait is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and continues to explore new modalities to tailor her therapeutic approaches to best support each client.
Cait strives to cultivate a space in which clients feel understood, respected, and important, and she uses warm silence, humor, motivational interviewing, and genuine interest to do so. If Cait’s approach sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out.
